Description of Home Conditions Based on Healthy Home Standards for Toddlers with Acuate Respiratory Tract Infections (ARI)
AbstractThis recearch aims to assess the condition of healthy housing based on healthy housing standards for children under five with ARI in the wetland areas of Pekanbaru. This research used a descriptive observational design. The sample consisted of 67 respondents, selected based on inclusion criteria of parents of children under five diagnosed with ARI, using accidental sampling techniques. The questionnaire used assessed healthy housing conditions. Univariate data analysis was applied for this study. A total of 62.7% of respondents were in early adulthood (26-35 years), 47.8% of the children were in the toddler age group (12-59 months), and 50.7% of the children were male. Among the 67 respondents, 59.7% of their homes met the healthy housing criteria, while 40.3% did not. For housing components, 88.1% had permanent ventilation area covering less than 10% of the house floor area, and 56.7% lacked a kitchen exhaust vent. In terms of sanitation facilities, 100% of wastewater was discharged into open drains. Regarding occupant behavior, 92.5% occasionally opened bedroom windows, 91% occasionally opened living room windows, and 95.5% occasionally cleaned the yard. In conclusion, while some homes met the criteria for healthy housing, there were still homes that did not. Most of the housing components, sanitation facilities, and occupant behaviors were found to be in good condition.
