AbstractPeople pleasing is a psychological phenomenon commonly found among first-born Generation Z individuals due to high family demands and expectations. One factor influencing this behavior is authoritarian parenting. This study aimed to determine the relationship between authoritarian parenting and people pleasing among first-born Generation Z individuals in Banjarmasin City. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method and purposive sampling technique involving 103 first-born Generation Z respondents in Banjarmasin City. The instruments used were the authoritarian parenting scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.925 and the people pleasing scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.836. The results showed a significant positive relationship between authoritarian parenting and people pleasing among first-born Generation Z individuals in Banjarmasin City with r = 0.336 and p < 0.001. This study is expected to enrich the literature regarding parenting styles and social behavior in Generation Z.
