Abstract

This community service program was motivated by the weakening of social solidarity and the emergence of potential social disintegration within the multiethnic community of Jorong Mulyo Sari, Kinali District, West Pasaman Regency. The program aimed to strengthen social solidarity and prevent social disintegration through the revitalization of mutual cooperation values. The program employed Participatory Action Research (PAR) through four stages: problem identification, action planning, action implementation, and participatory evaluation and reflection. The community was actively involved in identifying social problems, formulating solutions, implementing activities, and evaluating the changes that occurred. The evaluation results showed an increase in social solidarity of up to 80%, as indicated by increased community involvement in communal work, cross-generational mutual cooperation, social assistance, and participation in village meetings, religious gatherings, night patrols, and youth activities. This improvement was manifested through four mutual cooperation activities, namely the construction of a connecting bridge between Hamlet I and Hamlet II, the construction of waste bins, preparation for a communal iftar, and the production of decorations for the Eid al-Fitr celebration. In terms of preventing social disintegration, the strengthening achievement reached up to 80%, as reflected in increased tolerance among the Minang, Javanese, and Mandailing ethnic groups, a shared commitment to maintaining community security and harmony, problem-solving through dialogue and deliberation, strengthened social control against gambling, and increased trust among community members. Qualitatively, there was a transformation from previously low community participation and individualistic tendencies toward greater participation, social concern, tolerance, and collective responsibility.
