AbstractThis community service program was conducted at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, which comprises 5 Educational Institutions, 7,539 Students, and more than 77 Buildings distributed across 9 Areas. The complexity of its functions and the incremental development of its facilities have created a need for integrated guidelines for area development and planning standards. This program aims to develop planning and standardization instruments that could serve as a common reference for directing the development of the Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School area and buildings in a gradual and sustainable manner. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through a participatory design process involving the community service team, Pembangunan Umum Nurul Jadid (PUNJ) as the main partner, and students as facility users. The activities were carried out through four stages: observation, reflection, action planning, and action. The observation stage involved building inventory and measurement as well as identification of the existing conditions of the area. The reflection stage was conducted through discussions with the partner to identify needs and formulate directions for area development. The results of the reflection stage were then translated into an action plan through the development of zoning, a masterplan, a building database, and planning standards for spaces and facilities. The action stage subsequently involved a collaborative process of review, validation, and revision with the partner to ensure the suitability of the documents. This process resulted in three development governance instruments: the Masterplan Development Plan, Building Database, and Technical Guidelines for Architectural Standards at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School. These three outputs integrate spatial planning guidelines, building asset information, and planning and construction standards to provide a common reference for the gradual and sustainable development of the boarding school facilities. |
