class Author Guidelines

The editors invite experts, practitioners, and enthusiasts in medical-surgical nursing to submit research articles. These should be original, research-based, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in other journals. All submitted papers are subject to review by the editors, editorial board, and blind reviewers. Submissions that violate our guidelines on formatting or length will be rejected without review. These should be original, research-based, ethically contrived, unpublished, and not under review for possible publication in other journals.

Manuscripts must be sent online to the Adult Health Nursing Journal portal

Steps for Submitting Manuscripts

  1. Authors should register and check the “author” column on the registration page.

  2. After logging in, click "New Submission". The stages of article submission are as follows:

    1. In the Start section, complete all the checklists, then click save and continue.

    2. In the Upload Submission section, upload the article manuscript file in MS Word format. Then click save and continue.

    3. In the Enter Metadata section, enter the data of all the authors and affiliates. If there is more than one author, click ‘add author’, then fill in their data in the same way as the first author, and so on. Next, fill in the title, abstract, keywords, research methods, and bibliography in each of the available columns.

    4. In the Upload Supplementary Files section, it is permissible to upload supporting files or other documents.

    5. In the Confirmation section, click Finish Submission if all the data are correct.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

Original Research Articles

Reports of original research in Clinical research in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Advanced evidence-based care in medical-surgical nursing, Nursing care in acute disorders, Nursing care of adult patients, Pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions in nursing, Patient safety in medical-surgical wards, Professional relationship, Professional ethics in medical-surgical wards, Chronic Illness and End-of-Life Care, Critical Care And Emergency Nursing, Nursing care innovative technologies, Medical-surgical nursing education and curriculum

Review Articles

Critical reviews of the literature including:

  • Systematic Reviews
  • Meta-Analyses
  • Scoping Reviews

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship must comply with the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) criteria. Authors must meet the following conditions:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the study.
  2. Drafting or critically revising the manuscript.
  3. Final approval of the manuscript version to be published.
  4. Responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the work.

Authors must also include an Author Contribution Statement based on the CRediT taxonomy.

Practices such as ghost authorship, guest authorship, or gift authorship are not permitted.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts must follow the journal template and adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

Language: English
Font: Cambria
Font size: 11 pt
Line spacing: Single
Paper size: A4

The recommended manuscript length is 3,500–10,000 words, depending on the study design.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized in the following order:

Title

The title should be concise and informative, consisting of approximately 10–16 words.

Abstract

The abstract should not exceed 250 words and should summarize the background, objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Keywords

Provide 3–6 keywords, preferably using MeSH (Medical Subject Headings).

Introduction

The introduction should explain the research background, identify the research gap, and state the study objectives.

Methods

  1. Study design
  2. Participants
  3. Instruments or materials
  4. Data collection procedures
  5. Data analysis methods
  6. Ethical approval information

Authors are encouraged to follow reporting guidelines from the EQUATOR Network, such as:

  1. CONSORT
  2. STROBE
  3. COREQ
  4. PRISMA

Results

Results should present the findings clearly and logically, supported by tables and figures where appropriate.

Discussion

This section should interpret findings in relation to previous studies and highlight their implications for nursing science and clinical practice.

Implications and Limitations

Authors should discuss the practical implications of their findings and acknowledge study limitations.

Relevance for Practice

Authors should explain how the study findings can be applied directly in nursing practice, healthcare, or the community. Provide concrete recommendations for healthcare professionals, institutions, or policymakers

Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main findings and emphasize the contribution of the research.

Tables and Figures

  1. Be placed within the manuscript at appropriate locations
  2. Include clear titles and legends
  3. Not duplicate information presented in the text

All abbreviations used must be clearly defined.

References

References must be prepared using a reference manager (e.g., Mendeley) and formatted according to APA 7th Edition.

  1. Minimum 20 references
  2. Preferably published within the last 10 years
  3. At least 85% from journal articles
  4. Each reference should include a DOI or URL

Ethical Considerations

Research involving human participants must include a statement of ethical approval.

Authors must confirm that informed consent has been obtained where applicable.

Supplementary Files

Authors must upload the following files:

  1. Title Page

  3. Supplementary files (if applicable)

Through adherence to these guidelines, Adult Health Nursing Journal (AHNJ) aims to ensure high standards of scientific quality, methodological rigor, transparency, and ethical publishing.

 

message Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscript submissions have never been published by other journals before, and also at the same time have not been submitted to another journal, nor in the process of review by another journal. The manuscript must contain no materials the publication of which would violate any copyright or other personal or proprietary right of any person or entity.

  2. The manuscript submission file should be in Microsoft Word or Open Document file format (do not submit in PDF format).

  3. The manuscript submission adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which are found in About the Journal. The article is typed with justify a space of 1 ; with Cambria, 11 pt. All figures and tables are placed in the text in the correct section, not at the end of the file. All figures and tables must be in editable format (not screenshots, not Jpeg/png format).

  4. Citations and bibliographies should be compiled using the Mendeley reference manager. If available, each reference is accompanied by a complete URL. References of journal articles are preferred to include a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

  5. To ensure a blind peer review, authors must not write their names, affiliations, or other identifiers on the submission file. Authors' identities must be written in metadata submission, cover letter, and authors' contributions statement.
