Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
Digital Futures and Information Technology is an international peer-reviewed journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior in all aspects of the publication process. This policy outlines the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and the publisher. This policy is based on COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Allegations of Research Misconduct
Research misconduct includes fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or plagiarism in conducting, reporting, or reviewing research. When authors are found to have engaged in research misconduct or other serious irregularities, the editors have a responsibility to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record. In cases of suspected misconduct, the editors and the editorial board will follow COPE’s best practices to resolve the issue fairly. Manuscripts found to contain such misconduct will be rejected, and if a published paper is found to contain misconduct, a retraction will be issued and linked to the original article.
Publication Decisions
The editor of Digital Futures and Information Technology is responsible for the final decision on which articles are published. This decision is based on the validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers. Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
Complaints and Appeals
Digital Futures and Information Technology has a clear procedure for handling complaints against the journal, editorial staff, editorial board, or publisher. Complaints will be processed according to COPE guidelines and may relate to the editorial process, citation manipulation, bias in peer review, and other related issues. Complaints should be submitted via email to the Editor in Chief.
Fair Play
Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on their intellectual content, without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and editorial staff must maintain confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts, disclosing information only to the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisors, and the publisher as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Peer reviewers assist the editor in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts through feedback. Reviewers must provide objective feedback, identify relevant published work that has not been cited, and maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript under review.
Duties of Authors
Authors must present an accurate account of their research and an objective discussion of its significance. Authors should ensure their work is original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism. They are also responsible for ensuring that their data is reproducible and must provide raw data for editorial review if requested.
