THE EDUCATOR'S ETHICAL COMPASS APPROACH: A MORAL NAVIGATOR IN DEVELOPING STUDENTS' EMOTIONAL-SPIRITUAL QUOTIENT

Abstract


 

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the teacher's approach as an ethical compass in fostering students' emotional spiritual quotient. This study used a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected using three main techniques: observation (non-participant), in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants in the study from semi-structured interviews numbered five people consisting of the Principal, two homeroom teachers, and three teachers. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman Interactive Model. This result was Islamic religious education teachers were required to not only be figures who transfer knowledge, but also can educated their students towards the formation of noble personalities through exemplary approaches using persuasive and educative approaches. This teacher's persuasive and educational approach method provided learning knowledge that was considered new and contained examples of exemplary figures. As well as inviting students with family strategies in recognizing their own emotions, managing their emotions, the ability to motivate themselves, recognizing the emotions of others, and how to build relationships with others. The implication of this research was to present the figure of the teacher as a mentor, role model, and an interesting figure who leads students to directions, steps, and boundaries that uphold positive values for their environment.
