Application of Short Card Method in Teaching Compositions in the Intensive Education Program

Abstract

Teaching method is a method used by the lecturer in the teaching process to facilitate students' access to educational materials according to the objectives. For the lecturer, methods are an important tool in the teaching process. The method that is effective and can be applied in teaching compositions is the short card method. This research aims to describe the teaching of compositions using the short card method as well as the steps of establishing and implementing the short card method in PKPBA State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. This type of descriptive qualitative research is used. The source of data and documents is from the informants who are first-year students in the Faculty of Education, class TR-6. Data collection techniques include observation and interviews. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of this research show that the application of the short card method in teaching compositions in PKPBA State Islamic University Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang makes it easier for students to be active in learning, easier to understand, happy and enthusiastic about learning. Students can discover new concepts in teaching compositions so that learning does not seem monotonous and boring. The steps to create and implement the short card method are for the lecturer to prepare several tools to apply the short card method to 40 TR-6 students. There are nine steps to implement teaching activities using the short card method.
