CODEX: Journal of Software Engineering is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on internationally recognized standards of academic publishing and ethical guidelines to ensure the integrity of scholarly publications.
Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must present original research that has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. All data and findings presented in the manuscript must be accurate, honest, and free from fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work does not contain plagiarism in any form.
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given through appropriate citations and references. Authors should only include individuals who have significantly contributed to the research as co-authors and must ensure that all listed authors have approved the final version of the manuscript.
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the research results or interpretation. If the research involves human participants, sensitive data, or confidential information, authors must ensure that ethical approval has been obtained where necessary.
Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on their academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editorial decisions must be made objectively and without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, or political beliefs of the authors.
Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are evaluated through a fair and confidential peer-review process. Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher as appropriate.
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author’s written consent. Any potential conflicts of interest must be disclosed and managed appropriately.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and in improving the quality of manuscripts through constructive feedback. Reviewers should conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and professionally.
Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share or use unpublished information for personal advantage. Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report any similarity or ethical concern to the editor.
If a reviewer has any conflict of interest related to the manuscript, the reviewer should inform the editor and decline the review assignment.
Plagiarism and Academic Integrity
All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be screened for plagiarism using appropriate detection tools. Manuscripts containing plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical research practices will be rejected. The journal reserves the right to take appropriate action, including retraction, if ethical violations are discovered after publication.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that may influence the research or review process. Transparency in conflicts of interest is essential to maintain trust and integrity in scholarly publishing.
Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors or ethical issues are identified in a published article, the journal will take appropriate action, including issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
