The Use of Mimicry Memorization Method in Learning Speaking Skills at Tarbiyatul Muhibbin Junior High School Banyuwangi
AbstractSpeaking skill (maharah kalam) is one of the important aspects of language learning, especially in the context of Arabic. However, many students face challenges in developing this skill, such as difficulties in pronunciation, intonation, and confidence when speaking. The Mimicry Memorization method which focuses on imitation and repetition, has been identified as a potential approach to improve speaking skills. This study aims to: 1) to describe the use of mimicry memorization method in learning speaking skills at Tarbiyatul Muhibbin Junior High School Banyuwangi which includes the steps of implementation, 2) the contribution of the method to student’s speaking skills. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The main data sources are the results of interviews and observations which are written descriptively. The additional data from this study are documents relevant to the research topic. Data collection was done by interview, observation and documentation. The data were analysed using Milles and Huberman techniques through three stages, namely, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Data validation was carried out using source triangulation and theory triangulation techniques. The results showed that: 1) the application of the mimicry memorization method in teaching speaking skills at Tarbiyatul Muhibbin Junior High School through three stages, namely, the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages; 2) the contribution of the mimicry memorization method has a significant impact on learning speaking skills as evidenced by the results of the Arabic language learning evaluation. This study also found that the mimicry memorization method contributed to improvements in pronunciation, student confidence, speaking skills, and student engagement. These findings suggest that the Mimicry Memorization method is effective in developing speaking skills and can be implemented as an innovative learning strategy in schools. |
