Kirk Patrick as an Arabic language debate training evaluation for students of the Foreign Language Promotion Center

Abstract

We rarely find the application of Kirkpatrick's evaluation in training, especially the training of scientific debate in Arabic. The most commonly used debate evaluation model is the method of winning or losing in debate competitions. Although Kirkpatrick's four-stage evaluation helps the trainer to gain knowledge about improving students' efficiency. The aim of the research is to research the evaluation of scientific debate training on Kirkpatrick's theory. The research method used by the researcher is qualitative with a descriptive type. As for the data collection method, it is interview and documentation. The results of the research indicate that Kirkpatrick's four-stage evaluation was able to provide detailed knowledge about improving students' efficiency. The first stage of interaction evaluation showed that students enjoyed participating in the debate training. The second stage is learning evaluation, and there is an improvement in students' ability before participating in the training and after participating in the debate training. Third, behavior evaluation, students are easier to accept inputs and suggestions from trainers. Fourth, results evaluation, students are more productive in debate competitions in Arabic
