Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics Guidelines

Pedagogik: Jurnal Pendidikan is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to upholding the integrity of scholarly communication. These guidelines are intended to guide the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, peer reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher. These guidelines refer to the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethics in Scientific Publication

Publishing articles in Pedagogik represents a vital contribution to the structured and trustworthy advancement of knowledge. Articles that have undergone peer review reflect the academic quality of the authors and their affiliated institutions. Therefore, all parties involved are expected to adhere to established ethical standards.

As the publisher, Pedagogik is committed to maintaining editorial independence and being free from commercial interference. The editorial board may also collaborate with other journals or publishers to handle ethical issues professionally and collectively.

Handling Alleged Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes data fabrication, citation manipulation, plagiarism, or other fraudulent activities during the research and publication. When ethical concerns arise, the editor will investigate in accordance with COPE guidelines. Articles found to contain misconduct will be rejected or retracted. The process includes:

  • Initial review of the credibility and potential conflict of interest of the complainant.
  • Requesting clarification from the corresponding author on behalf of all authors.
  • Consulting additional experts if necessary (e.g., statistical reviewers).
  • Issuing corrections or retractions as needed, ensuring transparency and academic accountability.

Authors’ affiliated institutions are also expected to conduct thorough investigations of reported misconduct.

Publication Decisions

The final decision regarding submitted manuscripts lies with the editor, based on the scientific quality and relevance to the field of education. Editors may consult peer reviewers or editorial board members and consider applicable legal requirements such as copyright and plagiarism.

Complaints and Appeals

Pedagogik provides a mechanism to handle complaints about editorial processes, peer reviewers, or the publisher. Complaints may be submitted via the official email and will be addressed fairly in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Fairness and Confidentiality

Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on their academic merit without regard to the authors’ race, religion, gender, nationality, or political beliefs. Editors and editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, disclosing information only to those directly involved in the review process.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors and reviewers must not use unpublished information in a manuscript for personal advantage and should avoid conflicts of interest with any manuscript under review.

Duties and Ethics of Reviewers

Peer reviewers are responsible for providing objective and constructive evaluations. Reviewers should:

  • Inform the editor if they feel unqualified or unable to review the manuscript promptly.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript.
  • Provide fair and scholarly assessments free from personal bias.
  • Identify relevant published work that is not cited and any potential plagiarism.

Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Present research findings honestly and transparently.
  • Provide raw data if requested by the editor.
  • Ensure originality and properly cite all sources.
  • Avoid submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously.
  • Clearly state the contributions of all authors and acknowledge those who supported the research.
  • Disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.
  • Report significant errors found post-publication.
  • Adhere to ethical standards for research involving humans, animals, or confidential data.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Copyright policies follow the terms outlined on the official journal website.

Peer Review Process

Pedagogik applies a double-masked peer review system to ensure objective assessments. Details of the process are available on the journal’s official website.
